Lively Sketchbooks
What’s a sketchbook without experimentation and a narrative? Without structured teaching student sketchboks can become laboured presentations and/or dislocated collections of images. Some of the pages here are made early in Y12, on an A3 scale. Other examples are larger, where the Y13 students clearly enjoy juxta-posing images, experiments and annotation. There are also some examples of GCSE ‘boards’ that I often use instead of sketchbooks. The students really like the large space to develop their coursework ideas, but it does require robust teaching to achieve that all-important narrative.
