This is where everything starts – drawing with traditional tools like pencils and charcoal. Whether in the studio or out in the environment I challenge the students to step out of their comfort-zone. This might be with scale, economic mark-making,  or unusual surfaces. Two simple rules - first-hand observation and no photographs.
